Pandit Bundi Maharaj, the fourth son of late Pandit Baichu Prasadji Mishra, was born in

of tuning it with only THREE STROKES of the hammer on its 'GHATS'. He could produce the sweet melody produced by his music
was not exceptional, but also grammatically and technically perfect. Because the Ordinary Baayan could not understand the
hammering strokes of his left hand, the surface covering of his Baayan was especially made from the skin of a buffalo.
He was not only expert in Solo Tabla recital, but also well known accompanist. This which enabled him to perform as such with
the greatest musical maestros of his era such as Ustad Alauddin Khan, Ustad Inayat Khan, Ustad Kale Khan, Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Pt.
Pashupati Mishra, Pt. Laxmi Sevak Mishra, Pt. Chote Ramdasji Mishra, Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan, and innumerable other well known Artists
of his era. He acquired the most magnificent seat of 'GURUJI' in many noble places during his tenure. His dedication to Classical Music, Particularly to Tabla, his sense of
fine artistic flavour and his creative skilfulness catapulted him to an esteemed position in the arena of Hindustani Classical Music.
He continued his devotion and teaching till his breathed his last on the midnight of 31st December 1962, at Calcutta. His spiritual departure
for this earthly world created a great vacuum in the forum of Classic Music, never to be filled up again.
